Xiaonei (小内) didn't know, but he would never be able to read. He would barely be able to write the average amount of words required to make his way through the shabby life he would have. Would he? Who knows. But fact is that he was somehow locked up to an invisible life road, the one of those who do not have enough money to be capable of stopping thinking of it.
His mind was simple, spread with seeds of unexpanded potentials. They would never grow on the ground of poverty.

Blue got lost, successfully to his attempt of breaking up with usual daily habits. He never managed to be a creature of routine. So there he arrived, some unrealistic place, dusty and dirty. A piece of shit hazardously dropped in the middle of two groups of business towers, close, so close to the CBD and the US Embassy. The kind of place the "authority" is reluctant to accept, show, and accept being shown. Surprisingly, the place was to be destroyed quickly, next May.
He walked trough the would-be streets, far more smelly than smelly doufu (臭豆腐), far more messy than yangza (羊杂). Children would stare at him. Grown ups would, too. The thing is grown ups usually unsuccessfully tried not to show it, as soon as they realized they started to stare at the foreigner. Wide pale eyes, pale skin, high nose, fair hair. Generic description and appearance of a laowai in the eyes of a laonei. But children openly showed themselves watching. "Eeeeeeh wazzzzat'? OMG this ain't chinese, bleeeeeh! What's wrong with his blue sky-coloured eyes? Shit, foreigner, foreigner, foreigner sail-ho!"
And one raised his hand to his eye, over-openning it: "Heyyy, looka-looka, your eyes are tainted with sky, where the hell are you from, uh?"
